The Future of Physics

By Rod Carvalho

In October 2004, the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics (UCSB) celebrated its 25th anniversary by hosting a 3-day event: The Future of Physics. The event’s videos and slides can be found here.

As I am not a physicist, I did not dare to watch the more technical lectures. Still, I watched the following talks:

and enjoyed them. Prof. David Gross sure has a refined sense of humor. One day, I may find the intellectual courage to watch some of the other talks.

    - David Gross (Nobel Laureate 2004)
    - Edward Witten (Fields Medalist 1990)
    - Lisa Randall (the world’s most cited physicist)
    - Juan Maldacena
    - Leonard Susskind
